I was thinking the other day, as I often do since my life has changed so much in the last 10-15 years, about how we are sometimes called upon to perform certain duties or jobs and how we can develop preconceived notions about those duties or jobs. How many times have you heard someone say, "I could never be a stay-at-home mom", or "I could never do what he does".
Now, if it is your opinion that you do not WANT to do what he does or you do not WANT to be a stay-at-home mom, then it is your right and obligation to follow through with those notions. BUT, if you are called upon to suddenly change pace or to go a different route due to circumstances beyond your control, then go forth with vigor and optimism.
We can be whatever we are called upon to be. God gives us the grace and strength to forge ahead and succeed in the areas and ways that he has placed before us. He knows more of what we can be and if we can succeed and enjoy it. We are a very adaptable species. We can survive in the most unimaginable circumstances and can succeed over and above our most impossible dreams.
I never thought I'd be able to be a stay-at-home mom. And I was one of those women that thought stay-at-home moms didn't do anything and their jobs were a lot easier than actual "paying" jobs. Boy, was I wrong ...on both counts! I could be a stay-at-home mom, AND a good one. And it is also one of the toughest jobs you'll ever have. I also didn't think I'd want to go back to work either but I have gotten back into the working world and it feels good.
My point being that we are given the tools that we need to accomplish whatever task we need to accomplish if we only have faith and listen to Him. He will give us the grace to manage it and be successful. We need not be afraid because NO ONE measures up to Him.
