I write and write and write. I am looking for authors and down-to-earth people who share my interest and can give a novice, like myself, good advice in this exciting but demanding field. Looking forward to hearing from you. God Bless!

NOW, I understand.......

I am SO getting my paybacks now..... I remember so distinctly as a child when I would go to bed and have to ask for a glass of water or go to the bathroom or have to tell mom & dad something half a dozen times. NOW, I know their frustrations. How they must have been so tired of me constantly having an excuse after I went to bed. My boys have always been pretty good about going to bed. But now they are going through a stage, I guess. My youngest more than my oldest. It's payback time......oh boy.... Sorry mom & dad....ha

Moms can't do anything....

I am laughing so hard right now.... I can't tell you how many times my kids (mostly my youngest, Vince) has gotten words turned around and "butchered" phrases but tonight was so funny I had to write about it. I sat down to read the boys a book. Michael wanted to read some books to us and Vince decided he wanted to, too. He can't read yet but he's learning some words here and there. He mostly memorizes the stories and then tells it in his own words. Well, we have a book that he wanted to read called "What Moms Can't Do". When he began the story he read the title as "Mothers don't know how to do anything".... it was so funny!! I couldn't stop laughing. I love my boys!!

School time

Well, for those of you that, by the end of summer, are desperately looking forward to that special time of year....it's finally here!! Yes, today was the first day of school. I love my boys so much but by the end of the summer I am ready for them to head back to school. They tend to settle down a bit more when school starts, too. I don't know whether it's because they are only up for a limited amount of time after they get home before they have to go to bed... or the school atmosphere and studious habits are rubbing off....ha. Probably not the latter, though....
Vincent is pretty excited about going to Kindergarten.
And Michael really likes his 2nd grade class. Here are some pics. And yes, Vince is talling than Michael now.

Thank Goodness for NOISE!

Well, my little noise-makers are back. They came back yesterday. I missed them so much. This was the longest we had ever been away from our kids. The first couple of days were pretty good. I was able to clean the house and it stayed clean for a week...ha. But it gradually got lonelier and lonelier. Plus, my youngest was sick for a couple of days at mamaw and papaw's. Of course, that made me feel terrible that I wasn't there to comfort and take care of him. But he recovered and they were able to still go swimming and spending time with their cousins. I bet you can't guess which ones are the ornery kids......ha!

Quite house

It's amazing how you get used to a certain noise level and then when it's not there, it's almost "deafening". My boys went to spend a week with their mamaw and papaw in KC. They were so excited. They had their suitcases backed for a week. ha! It is so quiet around the house now. I really do miss them. When they are at home, I constantly telling them to keep the noise level down. But when they are gone, I so wish for the chatter and the pitter patter of little feet. Isn't that funny... I know they are having a good time. I think they were going to the KC Zoo today. I can't wait to hear all about their adventures. When I called them the other night I was talking to my youngest, Vince, and I said, "I miss you". And he said, "I miss you more". Then I said, "No, I miss you more". And he said, "No, I miss YOU more". He was so cute. Yes, I'm counting the days until they get back.

Dressing up Mom....

Today my sons decided they wanted me to dress up. They have the idea that I'm prettier in a dress and jewelry. They picked out a dress for me and a necklace, bracelet, a ring and earrings. You should have seem me. I was quite stylish as you can probably imagine. When it came time to put my ring on, Michael took the ring and got down on his knees and said, "Mommy, may you marry me?" He was so cute!! Times like that make the stresses of the day seem to melt away.

The Rookie Royals

Michael (my oldest) has been playing machine-pitch baseball this summer. The boys and girls did so well that the coaches thought it would be fun to take them to a "real" baseball game. Greg volunteered me to line things up since I used to work for Marion Labs with Mr. K. I guess he figured I would have some kind of pull after about 8 years...haha. Anyway, I did get everything arranged and we all took the kids to see the KC Royals. They had so much fun. Michael was able to meet the pitcher and get his autograph and then after the game they got to run the bases in the Sprint Run. What a day...and HOT, too!

Camping trip

Our family vacation was a camping trip this year. We just purchased a pop-up camper and we love it. We have camped quite a bit and always tented but the pop-up is like luxury to us now when we go camping. The boys loved it. We went to Lake Wabunsee (just outside of Topeka). Alot of Greg's family came out. Some camped and some just came for the day. We stayed for a little over a week. The kids fished, swam, played, made smores, rode their bikes and buried each other in the sand. We walked/rode around the entire lake which totaled approximately 5 miles. We were all exhausted by the time we got back to the campsite. We also took a trip to the Topeka Zoo. The boys had so much fun.

Blog bandwagon

Well, I'm finally jumping on the blog bandwagon. This is pretty good for me. First of all, with 2 boys, I don't have a lot of time to myself. If I go into our bedroom to get on the computer, my boys have some kind of radar. Within seconds, they are right by my side, wanting something, asking questions, picking on each other. I'm sure you understand what I'm talking about. And second of all, I'm really not that computer savy. A lot of what I know has been through trial and error or asking some of my computer expert friends. But I'm finally on board now and I'm looking forward to sharing lots of information about our family.
